Have you ever tried Alligator meat???

A friend of mine from the south said its growing in popularity down there and I should give it a shot. I'm usuall pretty open about trying new and exotic things but alligator? I heard of gators eating pets and people but I don't know about them. If you've tried it let me know your honest opinion on what it tastes like including its texture and stuff like that. If you know any recipes that would be good too. Didn't Adam Sandler eat som barbequed baby gators in the movie Waterboy...hmmm. Starting to sound pretty good now.
