In the near future, Can humans become cyborgs?

I have read and got lots of information about how technology is advancing really fast but I also read that humans will merge with machines sometime in the future. Is this true? Can humans become cyborgs or like Marcus Wright from Terminator Salvation who is a human but has a machines metal endo-skeleton and a chip in his brain? Is this possible? Can humans put computer chips in their brain and connect with artificial intelligence?
